Has there been a time in your life when you had amazing opportunities to create something new and you were unstoppable? Maybe you know someone who does this, seemingly effortlessly, and has great results? Do you wonder, then, how can you tap into achieving success and do it consistently?
For me, my most successful moments happen when I don’t see any possibility of failure. My first major success in turning a business around happened because I knew that there was only one way to go, and that was up! I didn’t start at the point of success but moved through the stages of achievement with no doubt that I already had succeeded. Let’s take time and examine the stages you go through with amazing ideas and where you can get stuck.
Even during my most absolute moments of certainty I experience the emotional cycle of creative change. I’ve discovered that the difference between making an idea come alive and not is what you do during this cycle of change.
“The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.” — Colin R. Davis
The difference is where you stop on the road.
In the Beginning There Is…
Your amazing idea.
“There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.” – Victor Hugo
Ah the excitement, juices are flowing, you are on top of the world! You have what you feel is a great idea. You don’t know the details of how to make it happen, you don’t even know if this is doable, but you are excited with anticipation and the urge to take action drives you forward.
It’s Subconscious Decision Time:
- Keep you safe, no risks, not the right time, dumb idea you don’t have the right connections, money, skill set… to make this happen
- Or…Let’s do this thing!
Take the Leap…
Of faith and embrace the free fall of creativity.
“If you are not willing to risk the usual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn
This means you are forging ahead, in spite of that voice in your head. You may have a network of supporters, emotional or financial backers, a coach, or a deep enough belief in your purpose that you take the next step without hesitation.
It’s Subconscious Decision Time:
- You hesitate because you think you have obligations that need to be met, don’t have the right contacts to make it happen, or have to do even more research as you don’t have enough information to forge ahead.
- Or…You focus on your why of this idea and take personal accountability for your actions and outcomes, without attachment to how but knowing your why.
And the Realization Sets In…
That it’s time to dig deep, be brave, and fight the good fight.
“There is no life without change. The real tragedy is that we are always fearful of change and resist it vehemently.” ― Debasish Mridha
This is where the roller coaster of failure and achievement rises up. It seems that you take small steps forward and large steps backward… the road to success, my friend, is not straight. It is here that youi know that it is only through taking action, consistent action, that allows you to climb out of the depths of the chaos you created with change.
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” — Winston S. Churchill
It’s Subconscious Decision Time…
- Some major obstacles your chattering mind throws up are your pride and, quite honestly, your laziness. You might give up after realizing that you will have to be down to earth, give up living in an expensive house, the country club, or the fancy vacations. Sometimes you need to step down to step ahead. Then some of you are conditioned to the 9 to 5 mentality You work 8 to 10 hours a day, and then clock out and shut off, still expecting to succeed in life. Successful people do not shut down but are passionate and driven.
- Or… Realize that becoming successful required you to give up the struggle to succeed. Fear and uncertainty come with the territory. Acknowledge your feelings and find what works best for you to overcome it.
Believe and You Shall Receive…
Manifesting your results.
“Creativity exists in the present moment. You can’t find it anywhere else.” – Natalie Goldberg
At this point in the process of creating change you have reaffirmed that what you want is something you deserve. You have moved through your subconscious barriers and are ready to reap what you have sown. What is amazing to me is that many of you stop here! Something is built, created from your desire, and then not used, promoted, or is put aside. Many of you start a search for something more, just when the realization is at hand.
It’s Subconscious Decision Time…
- Sometimes when you are about to realize what you have been working on you also realize that you were not crystal clear and specific and actually have not asked for what you want in the first place. I have also witnessed stress and obligation get in the way. Karma serves up what you ask for. Accept stress into your life and your state leaves space for even more stress. You no longer see what you have been working toward and simply let it go.
- Or…It’s time to celebrate your success! You have the ability to create and the fact that you just succeeded is proof. This energy of achievement, this excitement of creation, is the very thing that drives you for even more.
And for those of you who have made this journey, it is time to re-dream, create anew, and insist on even more wonders from this life.
Be curious and open to the infinite opportunities surrounding you in this moment and make choices congruent to who you are.
If not now, when?
