When Knocking on The Door is Not Enough

mainFor many of you, the search for the right pathway and the means to achieve your goals seems to be the mystery of all time. It often comes down to being at the right place at the right time and knowing the right people when you are ready.

Is it really just dumb luck or is there something else at work here? If it’s just happenstance, then what is the point of planning, projecting and envisioning the life you were meant to have?

Although it seems like some people have all the luck it truly is that these people are open and aware of the opportunities around them each day and know when to be still, and just let the door open. They are working with universal laws of nature and settle into the natural flow.

The Law of Gestation

There is a time for everything to come together. Honor the amount of time it take to realize your objective.

Law of Rhythm

What you focus on, you bring into your life. When the pendulum is down, what are you focusing on:

  • Your bad luck
  • Your lack, whether it be of finances, good health, helpful friends
  • Your anger

There’s a rhythm that occurs at all times and, if you don’t like where you are, focus on where you want to be.

These are just two of the natural laws of the universe to govern the ebb and flow of your life. What can you do to start tapping into these laws and begin “holding space” and allowing your objectives to unfold? Begin by creating and stating your intentions.

Intention is desire in action. Where there is intent, there is purpose and there is action

Hold a conscious intention of the thing you desire. State your intention with the presupposition that this, in some way, is already happening and with the desire for guidance or support. Be sure you are intending to do no harm and your desire is in harmony with you. Trust how you feel when you state your intention and change it if any part of you objects. For example, if you are looking to make more money in your life, then you might state this intention this way:

What more can I do right now to bring even more affluence into my life in a way that is completely in balance with my highest purpose and created from love?

  • Focus on the realness of your intention as if this already exists
  • Think, speak and act as if you already have it
  • Take inspired action as the ways and means to make it a tangible reality
  • Detach and allow the perfection and simplicity of the process to provide the desired results

Trust and the doors of opportunity you knock on will open. Let Kraft Bravery and Your Business help you transform your career and your life. Let Your Quest Begin!

Zen stone path in a Japanese Garden

Zen stone path in a Japanese Garden

Do you or anyone you know make statements such as, “I’m invisible,” “I feel stuck and frustrated,” or “There is something else I am supposed to be doing?” You are not alone and there is good news! There are steps you can take to become visible, to feel empowered and to move in your life’s direction. This is your personal quest and you never ending story.

Before you can begin your journey it’s time to start dreaming again. Dreams help you build a solid vision and with vision you have passion and with passion you are able to set meaningful goals. So are you in? Then let’s begin your personal quest. Go ahead and find a favorite spot to think and dream; this might be a favorite coffee shop, a park, or a special room in your home. Go wherever it helps you to think, relax and have fun while you begin your journey.

Get Curious

If this were the perfect world, no financial constraints, no technology constraints and you were fully capable, what makes your heart sing?

  • What do you currently do or want to do?
  • What types of people would you love to work with?
  • What environment is important to you?
  • Why are these important to you?

Answer these questions with as many items as you can. This should be a long list and may take you some time. Have fun and be creative.

Now, what is one thing that you long to have more of in your life? Did this show up in your exercise? If not, then add it and expand on what this would mean for you.

Get Specific

Now take your list and prioritize it and where there are similarities combine them. Based on these results what is the #1 thing you would like to be doing right now? Now answer these questions fully and completely.

  • What does ________ mean?
  • What doesn’t _______ mean?
  • I have ____________ in my life because?
  • I don’t have _________ in my life because?

Let the Quest Begin

It’s time to gather information about your dream. Identify at least 2 people you know (or get introduced to 2 people) who are in the field/industry you are targeting. Invite them out to coffee (this is a 30 minute commitment only) to explore what they do. Explain that you are looking at opportunities in this area and want to learn about the climate today and how things are changing. You want to ask questions such as:

  • What is it about what you do that excites you every morning?
  • If you had to pick one, what is your biggest challenge and how would you like to see it resolved?

You can add other questions based on the answers you get, remember this is a short meeting and it is about them. At the end of the meeting, recap what you heard with an emphasis on the good things presented. Let this person know you are looking for information and would really appreciate it if they could introduce you to someone else (one or two people) you could also interview. An email introduction would be great.

Have an introductory email script ready before your meeting so you can give this to your interviewee to use as an introduction to their referral you are asking for. This way they have what you want them to say and they are not uncomfortable creating the email on your behalf.

At the end of your quest (two or three months) you will have a rounded view of the industry you are considering and you can see where your current capabilities might fit. Now you can build your plan to enter the world of the career you are passionate about. GO FOR IT!

Kraft Bravery and Your Business helps you transform your career and your life. Contact me today for more support in getting more out of your life right now. I am simply here as a powerful resource for you, to empower you to become as focused and clear on your goals as possible. And we both know this is what you desire too so now is the time to make an empowered decision and schedule your coaching sessions today. There is so much that we can accomplish when we’re together.

Is your Dream a Reality

Have you wondered why you have a dream and yet nothing has changed? How often have you heard statements such as:

  • Believe and it will happen
  • If you have passion you will succeed
  • Determination is the key

And you’ve tried them all, yet still no change. Although all of these are true and I would argue, essential for your success, the desire and will for something is not all it takes. Krafting your dream, your goal, and your passion takes planning, perspective and patience.

Planning

When you have a goal in mind you need to select a realistic end date. For example, let’s say you want to make $50 million a year. Well, if you are starting at a base of making $50,000 a year, this will probably not be achievable within the next 12 months. However, if you have a 3 – 5 year plan and a means to achieve this goal then break it down.

What needs to be accomplished in 5 years?

What needs to be accomplished in 3 years?

What do you need to achieve in this first year, six months, this month?

Now what needs to be done every week this month?

Breaking your plan down to realistic and achievable milestones is the most important step you can take because you shift your dream to an actionable state.

Please keep on dreaming, keep on visualizing, and keep up your passion and determination. But build a solid plan first.

Perspective

This is where you take a look at your plan and determine, given the resources you have today, the constraints (technology, finance, time) what realistic steps can be taken to build toward this plan. Do you need help? Do you need guidance? Is this achievable in 5 years? Why not and how can each obstacle you foresee now be addressed? What alternative steps can you take if needed?

You have built your plan with the perfect world in mind. In the perfect world where you have all the resources you need and there are no obstacles in the way of what you need to achieve. Now recognize those obstacles and add the steps and/or resources you need to overcome each one.

Patience

If you are anything like me, once you spend the time building your plan and determining your process you want it done, NOW! Well, there is a universal law called the Law of Gestation. Everything has a time and new ideas need time to take root, to be nurtured and to grow strong. You planted the seed now nourish its growth. Work your plan with the flexibility to change as life happens. Stay focused, stay driven, stay a believer.

These three practical steps coupled with daily routines of focusing on your intentions are what pull you through the unexpected and assure your success in achieving your goals. Hone your plan, hone your energy, and hone your purpose. This is a daily process and it is the journey that Krafts your vision.

Challenge your Beliefs and Kraft your own Future

Who do you aspire to be

You have a vision for your future, your career and yourself.  Take a close look at what you are trying to achieve and understand how this is the same or different than how your life is right now.  Who are you hanging around with in this future and who are you hanging with today? Are they the same? Why not?

You see, we all gravitate to people who think like us, whose beliefs are the same. Because you surround yourself with people and information that align with your beliefs you are, by default, excluding everyone and everything else. This occurs with your memories as well and your beliefs and your beliefs shape who you think you are and the choices you make.

So who are you hanging out with lately? Are they the customers you are looking for? Are they the type of people you want to become? Are they believers in your ability to achieve greatness in your life? Challenge yourself to grow and kraft your future today.

  • Surround yourself with people who you wish to emulate. Learn from them. Mirror them. Get to know them.
  • Challenge your choices daily. Are your actions moving you forward? Do they align with where you are going? Do they make sense?
  • Challenge yourself. Whenever you use words such as hopefully, someday, yeah but or maybe then ask yourself why not? What is holding you back?

Look to yourself for answers as you are in control of every choice you make every moment of the day. Surround yourself with the people who believe in you and are who you want to become. Take responsibility for where you want to be and look to those you aspire to for guidance.

The Secret Why Your Affirmations Aren’t Working

Get results in your life

What are you doing that is keeping you stuck

Have you ever heard that using the law of attraction and affirmations will get you what you dream of? You know what I’m talking about, I know, I’ve been there. Just like you, I believed the way to achieve what I wanted in life was to think positively.  I read the motivational books, heard the tapes, listened to friends and took self-improvement courses.

Then one day, while deep in the bowls of anger and frustration, looking for something positive to say about my situation, my life and myself, I realized something was terribly wrong. Everything I was doing was false and did not truly resonate with me. It didn’t align with who I am and what I truly believe.

When you try to get yourself to feel good in the middle of a slump does not work because you are moving against your nature and are not dealing with what is going on in your life right now.

When you find yourself stuck, frustrated and in the dumps it is natural for you to feel angry. If this is natural, why would you then try to make yourself feel positive and feel good?  The problem with positive thinking is there might not be anything good about what is happening. What you can do is become curious about what you are feeling and be optimistic about the next outcome.

You do know that everything passes and all things change. Look for reasons what the situation you are dealing with right now is temporary. Be curious and ask if you are trying to control something that can’t be controlled. Are you bracing yourself for problems that have not yet occurred? Where is your energy coming from and going?

That day that I realized affirmations were not working for me I took ownership of my situation. I became responsible for where I was and therefore became empowered to make changes in my life.

What marvelous opportunity for change are you missing because you are stuck in your affirmations?  What steps are you taking and then stopping to wait for the results rather than continue to push through to where you want to go? What dream or vision are you out of touch with because your focus is misaligned?

Put your energy behind your goal and your drive. Find a reason why being stuck is temporary, and then use your frustration to approach life differently.  Affirm your strength, love and belief in your ability to achieve greatness. Affirmations and the law of attraction is truly a force. Use this law authentically and reap unstoppable rewards.

Becoming Peter Pan

peterpanDo you remember that magical feeling while watching Peter Pan and his gang promise to stay young forever? Yes, forever in Never Neverland. Well you can achieve this wondrous goal if you just believe. Becoming Peter Pan is within your reach and is a goal worth striving for. What can this mean in your world and how can you achieve it?

Let’s take a look at what Peter was saying to his followers.

“I won’t grow up. I don’t want to go to school. Just to learn to be a parrot, and recite a silly rule. If growing up means it would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree, I’ll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up not me… “

Just to learn to be a Parrot… This is an incredibly profound statement. Peter wanted his boys to remain creative, remain curious and open to all the possibilities around them and to remain free of constraints that might hold them back. Peter wanted his boys to be leaders, to be creators and to love life. When you are in a career that you love, that energizes you, that inspires you and that gives to those around you then you are living the Peter Pan life. You are creating rather than parroting.

Be open and aware to all the possibilities around you each day.

Beneath my dignity to climb a tree…  When was the last time you behaved child-like? Have you swung on a swing lately, inhaled helium, opened a coloring book, ate cookie dough or just plain giggled until tears ran down your face? Just doing something because it tickles your fancy and puts a heart-felt smile on your face helps you deal with daily tedium and stress. Get back to laughter and find the joy that is in your life and you will be living a Peter Pan life.

Experience the magic again of wonder and joy. Return to the awe-struck state of being child-like.

“…I don’t want to wear a tie, and a serious expression in the middle of July. And if it means I must prepare to shoulder burdens with a worried air, I’ll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up, not me…”

Serious expression [and] … shoulder burdens with a worried air… Peter was brilliant. He is not telling his boys that life is always easy. He is telling them to carry life’s lessons without worry. Know that these are lessons and you learn and grow from them. Lighten the load by lightening how you shoulder that load and you are living a Peter Pan life.

Start every day thankful for what you have and commit to using your energy to be better and do better.

“…. I won’t grow up. Not a penny will I pinch…”

Not a penny will I pinch… Peter knows there is folly in pinching pennies. There is a difference with pinching pennies and being frugal. Pinching pennies is being miserly. This is being stingy, not generous, and reluctant to give. If you horde money you are not circulating money and it will not grow. If you are being frugal then you know what you are spending and you are being sure there is value in return; in business this is called return on investment (ROI). Knowing where your money is and where it goes is managing money and this is living a Peter Pan life.

Focus on finances weekly, finance focus Fridays or manage money Mondays. Set your preferred routine and stick with it. Paying attention to your money brings control over it.

Be awestruck with today’s possibilities, return to play and laughter and plan to spend wisely.  With these simple lessons, you too can live a Peter Pan life.  Do you believe?

I Create My Life

Wealthy Now

Wealthy Now

Rich people believe “I create my life.”

The key behind this wealth principle is the belief that we are in control our lives. If we believe this is true, we also must believe that we love our life; after all, we created it. If we believe we are in control of our lives thus creating our results then we take full responsibility for our results.  We are the boss of our destiny and as bosses, the buck stops here. It is important that we believe we create our own success before we can effectively create change. If we believe we control our success then, by default, we believe we create our missed success, weather consciously or unconsciously.

This principle contends that poor people choose to play the role of the victim rather than directly assuming full responsibility for what’s going on in their lives. In playing this role they are often negative and full of complaints. Have you noticed that when we are around someone who is constantly complaining it is physically and mentally draining? Can you recall a time in your life where you literally felt the energy being sucked right out of you when around someone full of negativity? How effective could you have been in your life at that time?

“There is no such thing as a really rich victim!” T. Harv Eker, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, pg. 60

In order to stay a victim you have chosen to remain so and victims never become rich. What can we do to stop being victims? What can we do to change our pattern and take control of our lives? Here are a few steps you are able take immediately to begin this process for yourself.

1: Re-frame complaints:

When you find yourself complaining do something to remind yourself this is self-destructive. Eker suggests you slide your index finger across your neck as a trigger to remind yourself that you are slitting your own financial throat. Once you recognize you have complained, re-frame your thoughts or responses in a positive and constructive way.

2: Set goals:

In order to begin and get into the habit of setting goals start with weekly identifying what you want to achieve in the following week. Identify what activities are needed to achieve your goals. When you set goals, you have control.

3: Celebrate successes daily and weekly:

At the end of you day, write down one or two things that went well. Recognize when you achieve your goals and congratulate yourself for your daily successes. This both directs your energy a positive way and builds your confidence.

4: Learn and adjust from mistakes:

What are one or two things that didn’t go so well?  Re-framing these events requires a little change in thinking. How did you create each situation? If others were involved, then what was your part in creating these situations? Now re-frame these events by re-writing them as happening with positive outcomes. Re-live the situation in the best way possible and notice the difference the next day.

5:  Give your time and energy to others:

By giving to others without expecting a return you actually receive positive feedback and respect. These are the basics for self-respect, building bravery and believing in yourself.

Continue to follow your dreams, goals or aspirations. Believe in yourself; you are the key to your success. Take the Next Step and follow your dream..

Half of Us May Soon Be Freelancers – But Don’t Know How

woman_celebration_arms_up_11340 (2)In her August 8th posting Half Of Us May Soon Be Freelancers: 6 Compelling Reasons Why  Shane Snow, CCO of Contently suggests that more and more workers are becoming freelancers rather than corporate employees and for many, it’s soon going to be their only option. I believe that this is not a recent trend but it is definitely picking up momentum.  What this means for many is that new skills in marketing will need to be honed and keeping up with an on-line presence will be a must.

The skills and daring of the entrepreneur is what will win out in the end. For many this is a new world and a little guidance is definitely needed. Being a freelance employee is a double edged sword; both exciting to be in control of your own destiny and frightening as you are responsible for the results. Those that get this will flourish while others will struggle.

So what can you do to align with these changes and be prepared with a robust presence? The first step is selecting the social media that works best for you.   I work with clients to help them pick their venue and stick with it. You can get overwhelmed with choices such as Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, blogs, LinkedIn and email, just to name a few. I suggest that you pick two or three that are symbiotic to your business/career and build on those for a while. You can always add other on-line media later, but you want to be able to manage what you have first. Here are a few examples of what may work well together:

·        Photographer, artist, restaurant, clubs, event planner(visual media)

  • Blog
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Email (such as xxx.com)

·        Sales Rep, executive, project manager, consultant (business oriented)

  • Blog
  • LinkedIn
  • Email (such as xxx.com)

Did you notice that I believe we all should blog or write something that is meaningful to the business we are in? This helps define who we are and what we bring to the table.  I also believe human beings are social animals and need each other in order to succeed. Even though we are moving toward an entrepreneurial work force and working remotely more more often, we are also moving toward building support networks that sustain us beyond the walls of an organization. Some of these are business networks, such as BNI, some are consulting agencies, such as Deloitte, and some are individual coaches, such as me. Whatever venue works for you, seek it out. Even if you never leave the firm you are in, adopting an entrepreneurial approach to your work will yield benefits you never expected. Stand out from the pack and learn how to be an entrepreneur in your field now.

Be Careful What You Wish For

It is most likely that at some time in your life you have heard the saying “be careful what you wish for.” What is interesting to me are the people I have run into that are surprised when I point out to them that they are probably already getting what they are wishing for. You see the secret here is in both knowing how to ask for what you need and then actually being ready to handle it once you get it.

Takethenxstep Sheep

In the fable from Aesop, the Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, a wolf devised a plan to dress in a sheepskin to prey on a flock of sheep. Mingling with the sheep he fooled them as well as the shepherd, who proceeded to pen the wolf in for the night. That evening the shepherd wanted some mutton for his table and, mistook the wolf for one of the sheep and promptly dispatched him with a knife there and then. The wolf suffered the fate of the very sheep he imitated. So what are the perils we should watch out for?

Results due to our thoughts

The beliefs that we hold deep in our unconscious minds, those secret thoughts of what we believe we deserve, are what manifests in our lives every day. Our mind takes a look at what we believe to be true and compares it to the life we are leading. It then makes sure we find the right circumstances and behave with the right actions to align our outer world with what our inner world knows to be true. As a result, for most situations, we take the action needed to create our circumstances, therefore our lives, one thought at a time.

When we find ourselves living with fear, hopelessness, anger, guilt, regret and frustration why are we surprised that this is what life gives us each day? Meanwhile when we find ourselves being happy, content, full of energy or wealthy in our mind, we often discover these things just keep coming our way. We become aware of the infinite possibilities around us and are able to tap into them. This law of attraction applies equally to all of us, every minute of every day.

When we’re not ready

Sometimes we ask for results that we are not yet ready for. For instance, we might want more money yet we are not budgeting or managing the money we currently have. Why would we receive more of what we are not currently managing well? Would you think that our unconscious mind knows that we are not yet ready? Maybe we have received opportunities to increase our financial situation but are not yet mature enough financial managers to have recognized this opportunity. Our mind protects us from assuming more than we can handle, so why give us more?

We might also find ourselves in a situation where we’ve asked for something, have gotten it and are now in a panic state about the change this means or how to handle it. For example, a 9 to 5 worker who is also developing an entrepreneurial business off hours wants to leave the “day” job to run the business. If they do not identify the right time to leave, their mind will create the scenarios required at the day job to compel leaving. They will either get laid-off, demoted or fired if they do not have a transition plan to ease into the business.Resulting in leaving the current job before being ready.

In examining my results, thoughts and actions I realize that I have spent time believing as well as time disbelieving this law of attraction. Yet, every single time I frame my “ask” in a positive manner and believe I am ready and deserving to receive this gift, I get it! Ready or not! So think for a moment, what are you asking for in your deepest thoughts and what are your results? Rather than being careful with what we wish for, let’s be carefully specific instead and believe that we deserve it. What do we have to lose? What do we have to gain?

For more detailed direction and support on getting the results you want, send me your contact information. Let me make you a believer.
