At this point, social distancing has lost its allure. Whether you embraced the self-imposed quarantine as an opportunity or a threat, your circumstances are starting to get old. When this all began you might have focused on:
- Remaining positive each day
- Now this is wearing thin
- Thinking outside the box, personally and professionally
- Now you question your ability to be creative
- Working with children at home to educate and motivate
- You wonder how you both will make it for another month and worry about summer activities
- Falling apart as you watch your business, career, and lifestyle slip away
- The stress of loosing your bearings has worn you down
The realty that COVID-19 may actually never go away. It will normalize and become a part of your life in some manner yet to unfold.
So, the stress of living life with an undertone of uncertainty and a definite new reality is in the back of your mind, if not in the forefront.
As difficult as it might be, it is really important right now to embrace your feelings. Sit in a quiet place and journal, go for a walk in nature and reflect, or take a drive to nowhere and scream your heart out. Whatever works for you to release the pressure point without shame, judgement, or guilt.
You are experiencing the death of your past reality, for many, this feels like you are lost at sea. For others this is a chance to grow. Then, for some, this is an opportunity to do what you have always wanted to do.
“Suffering is wishing things were other than they are.” – Gautama Buddha
If you can truly find hope in your future, acceptance of your circumstances, and embrace that life is changing; then you will be able to find the space to breathe deeply again. You will find a way to relax your muscles, clear your mind, release your constricted throat, calm your heart, un-tense your stomach, and move the wave of freedom throughout your body.
Give yourself permission to be worn down by this new reality. Take care of the wounded child. Then look for your new balance.
You have the power to choose how you heal, how you respond. and how you use your energy each day. This is a practice of conscious choice and being present in the uniqueness of the moment. Take control, accept responsibility, and be aware that your perspective, response, and results belong to you alone. You know it’s time for even more.
If not now, when?
