Feeling Stuck, Shift Your Focus

Has there been a time when you felt stuck, frustrated, or confused? Maybe you were anxious, overwhelmed, or felt your mind was just spinning. Have you ever just wanted the world to stop, just for a moment, so you could find a way out of the quicksand you felt you were in?

Everyone has had these feelings at some point. It is when this is your normal or frequent state that you might want to take a look at what is going on.

You get stuck when you’re in your head too much and focus on intellectual activities, the noise swirling around in your mind. You might live behind a desk, or computer, in front of a TV or video game, or maybe you pass the time streaming show after show. You escape using activities that go nowhere while you spin your wheels looking of answers. You realize you overthink and begin to lose touch with your direction.  

When you get into an overthinking cycle you are not creating results. This leads to feeling guilty, withdrawn, or like a failure. You find that you use language such as” “I should,”” I have to,” and ”I must.”  As you try to look for answers, you sink even deeper, creating yet more stuckness.

There is good news.

You have thoughts running through your head all the time. You get to choose which thoughts to let go on by and which thoughts to focus on.

Go ahead and consciously choose the thoughts you wish to believe to be true.  Find evidence in your life where success is fact. Visualize your achievements in full panoramic color with action, sound, and sensation.

This is not asking you to pretend thoughts of fear or lack of belief will stop showing up. It is asking you to acknowledge that your concerns that keep you stuck do show up, then let them keep on moving, passing you by. Practice listening to your thoughts of achievement and action instead. When concern, worry, or doubt creep in, consciously chose to shift your thinking to those of results that make you feel great.

The law of Rhythm tells you that everything has an ebb and flow. Like a pendulum, whenever something swings to the right, it must then swing to the left. Go ahead and nudge your thoughts in the direction that you deserve.

You have the power to consciously choose to ignore thoughts that are not serving you and hold on to those that motivate and inspire you. Re-ignite that flame, diligently ask yourself questions for focus, and check that you are on the right path. Make conscious choices that move you forward. Take control, step into your own empowerment, and be aware that your actions are choices that belong to you alone. You know it’s time for even more.
